Mawlawi Rahmatullah Najeeb, a seasoned member of the Taliban’s military and intelligence commissions, assumed the position of Deputy Minister for administrative affairs at the Ministry of Interior in late May 2024. In his current capacity, he oversees a broad administrative portfolio, which includes management of the national police force and specialized police units. Before stepping into this role, Rahmatullah Najeeb served as the Second Deputy Director-General of Intelligence at the General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI), the Taliban's main intelligence agency, since September 2021. In that role, he oversaw the administrative portfolio within the Taliban's intelligence directorate.
In the 1990s, he reportedly served as the Taliban’s Consul General in Karachi, Pakistan, and was in-charge of overseeing the Taliban affairs in the northern Balkh province during the first Taliban regime. Following the events of 2001, he served as a shadow governor for Ghazni and Logar provinces. Rahmatullah Najeeb's birthplace is reported as Paktia province, although some sources suggest Ghazni province. He is listed on the United Nations sanctions list under the designation TAi.132.
