Haji Abdul Habib Alizai, also known as Agha Jan Alizai, is a well-known Taliban-affiliated businessman and narcotics trafficker who operated one of the largest illicit drug networks in southern Afghanistan. According to INTERPOL, he managed trafficking routes to and within Pakistan, supplying the Taliban with significant cash in exchange for the group's protection of drug shipments, traffickers, processing labs, storage facilities, and poppy plants. His network also played a key role in smuggling weapons for the Taliban, along with transporting and providing shelter for the group's fighters traveling from Pakistan. Additionally, UN reports indicate that he actively facilitated al-Qaeda's activities in Afghanistan on behalf of the Taliban and supported the "procurement of fraudulent Iranian passports by Taliban members to travel to Iran for training." Born in 1963, he is listed on the UN's sanctions list under the designation TAi.148.
