Abdul Rahman Attash currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Afghanistan's National Development Corporation. He transitioned from the previous Afghan government, where he first held the position of Head of Operations—an independent unit within the Presidential Palace overseeing procurement activities. Before the Taliban's seizure of power, he led the National Development Corporation, his current role. A graduate of Nangarhar University, Attash has a background with the Hizb-e-Islami-Hekmatyar jihadist party. Later, he developed close ties with Mawlana Abdul Saboor, the leader of the Jamiat-e-Islah Islamist party, eventually joining the party. Over the years, Attash has been actively involved with the Jamiat-e-Islah humanitarian and fundraising wing known as Najm. Reports suggests he maintained close ties with the Taliban during his time in the previous government, which included providing protection fees to the Taliban commanders.
