Mawlawi Abdul Hadi Yaqoob has been serving as Deputy Minister of Energy since November 2024. Prior to this role, he was the Provincial Director of Public Works in Kandahar province starting in August 2022. He is reported to be the brother of the late Mullah Obaidullah Akhund, a prominent figure who served as Minister of Defense during the first Taliban regime in the 1990s.
