Mawlawi Abdul Rahman Haqqani was appointed Governor of Khost province in early May 2026. Before assuming this role, he served as Governor of Baghlan province.
Earlier, he was Deputy Minister for Technical Affairs at the Ministry of Borders and Tribal Affairs from March 2022 to May 2023. Prior to that, he served as Chief of Staff of the 207 Al-Farooq Military Corps in Herat province.
