Mawlawi Abdullah Mukhtar was appointed Governor of Baghlan province in early May 2026. He previously served as Governor of Khost province from mid-October 2025.
Before these roles, he was Deputy Minister of Supplies and Logistics at the Ministry of Interior starting in June 2023. Earlier, he served as Governor of Paktika province and as Provincial Chief of Police in Kunar province.
