Mawlawi Abdullah Mukhtar was appointed Provincial Governor of Khost province in mid-October 2025. Before this appointment, he served as Deputy Minister of Supplies and Logistics at the Ministry of Interior since June 2023. Prior to that, he served as Governor of Paktika province and, earlier, as Provincial Chief of Police for Kunar province.
