Mawlawi Hamdullah Nomani, a veteran of the Taliban's leadership council, was appointed Minister of Communications and Information Technology in late June 2025. Prior to this role, he served as Minister of Urban Development and Housing from January 2023 to June 2025. Before that, he held the position of acting mayor of Kabul province.
During the Taliban regime in the 1990s, Hamdullah Nomani served as Minister of Higher Education and mayor of Kabul city. Born in 1968, he is currently listed under the United Nations Security Council sanctions under the designation TAi.044.
