Mawlawi Hamdullah Nomani, a veteran of the Taliban's leadership, assumed his current position as Minister of Urban Development and Land in mid-January 2023. Before his current role, he served as the acting mayor of Kabul province. During the Taliban regime in the 1990s, Hamdullah Nomani served as Minister of Higher Education as well as mayor of Kabul city. Born in 1968, he is among the Taliba leaders sanctioned by the UN Security Council under the designation TAi.044.
