Mawlawi Jan Mohammad Madani, also known as Jan Mohammad Ikram, has been a key advisor to the Taliban's emir, Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada, since mid-2022. During the Taliban's rule in the 1990s, Jan Mohammad Madani served as the Taliban's ambassador in the Afghan Embassy in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Subsequently, he became a member of the Taliban religious commission and served on the Taliban Political Office and its negotiating team in Doha, Qatar, from 2018 to 2021. Born in 1954, he is listed on the United Nations sanction list under the designation TAi.119.
