Mawlawi Mohammad Rabbani Nasih as appointed Deputy Minister for Finance and Administrative Affairs at the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing in late January 2026.
Prior to assuming this position, he served as Director of Monitoring and Supervision at the Office of Administrative Affairs. Before that, he was Deputy Governor of Nangarhar province from February 2022 to July 2023.
In April 2023, during his time as deputy governor, he publicly commended an individual named Mohammad Naseem, who was responsible for the killing of two American troops in Paktika in 2011. Mawlawi Nasih is reported to have close ties with Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar.
