Mawlawi Mohammad Rasool Ayyub is a prominent member of the Taliban who began as an advisor to Haji Mohammad Yousuf Wafa during Wafa's tenure as Governor of Kandahar province from September 2021 to May 2023. He continued in this capacity when Haji Wafa was reassigned as Governor of Balkh province in May 2023. In the 1990s, Mawlawi Rasool Ayyub is reported to have served as Governor of Nimruz province under the Taliban's rule. After 2001, he became a senior member of the Quetta Shura Taliban in Pakistan. Born in the early 1960s, he is reportedly listed on the UN's sanctions list under the designation TAi.104.
