Mawlawi Rahimullah Mahmood was appointed Deputy Governor of Farah province in June 2025. He previously served as District Governor of Spin Boldak in Kandahar province (July 2024 to June 2025) and as Deputy Governor of Ghazni province from May 2023. Prior roles include Provincial Chief of Police in Kandahar (February 2022 to May 2023) and Deputy Commander of the 205 Al-Badr Military Corps in Kandahar.
During the Taliban insurgency, he led the Kandahar military commission. He was educated in religious studies in Pakistan. Educated in religious studies in Pakistan, he is reportedly closely associated with the Haqqani Network, a U.S.-designated terrorist organization.
