Mawlawi Rahimullah Mahmood was appointed District Governor of Spin Boldak in Kandahar province in July 2024. Before this position, he served as Deputy Governor of Ghazni province since May 2023. Prior to that, he was Chief of Police in Kandahar province from February 2022 to May 2023 and has also served as Deputy Commander of the 205 Al-Badr Military Corps in Kandahar province. In the past, he was head of the Kandahar military commission during the Taliban's insurgency. He was educated in religious studies in Pakistan. Notably, he is reported to have a close association with the Haqqani Network, a designated terrorist organization.
