Mohammad Hassan Haqyar is a prominent political commentator who joined the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs — then led by Mawlawi Abdul Kabir — as head of media relations in early 2023. Haqyar served in this role until the Office of Deputy Prime Minister was dissolved by the Taliban’s emir in January 2025.
Prior to the Taliban's takeover in August 2021, Haqyar was a frequent guest on Afghan media outlets and talk shows while living in central Kabul, where he voiced support for the Taliban. In October 2019, he survived a shooting by unknown assailants in Kabul, an incident he attributed to elements within the former Afghan government, citing his anti-government and pro-Taliban views.
