Nisar Ahmad Ahmadi held the position of Deputy Governor of Badakhshan province until June 6, 2023, when he was assassinated in a car bomb attack in Faizabad, the provincial capital of Badakhshan. The responsibility for the attack was claimed by ISIS-Khorasan, the Afghanistan branch of the terrorist group.
