Sheikh Abdul Hameed Hamasi, born in the mid-1980s, is a self-declared cleric affiliated with the Taliban. Educated in Islamic studies in Kabul, he and his family resided in his hometown of Mosahi in the south of Kabul before the Taliban's takeover. During this time, he quietly used the pulpit of his local mosque to advocate for the Taliban over the years. A close associate of Sheikh Nida Mohammad Nadeem, the current minister of higher education, Abdul Hameed Hamasi frequently appears alongside Taliban leaders and delivers speeches in major ceremonies. Notably, all seven of his brothers reportedly serve as clerics, and Hamasi has named one of his two sons 'Mohammad ibn al-Hajar' as a tribute to the renowned 15th-century Islamic scholar, Ibn Hajar al-ʿAsqalani. In the past, Abdul Hameed Hamasi has traveled to Pakistan, the Deoband seminary in India, and, most recently, Saudi Arabia.
