Sheikh Mawlawi Noorullah Munir assumed the position of Director General of the Central Directorate of Dar-ul-Ifta in September 2022. The Central Dar-ul-Ifta Directorate, based in Kabul province, is an Islamic judicial body that serves as an advisory center for Islamic legal rulings, including issuing fatwas, and collaborates closely with the Taliban's Supreme Court. Prior to this role, he served as the Minister of Education from September 2021 to September 2022. A cleric and a seasoned member of the Taliban’s religious commission, Munir has previously overseen the Taliban's Sharia courts. He is recognized as a close confidante of the Taliban’s emir and is well-regarded within the Taliban ranks.
