Dr. (Haji) Qalandar Ebad, a non-Taliban appointee in the Taliban government, held the position of Minister of Public Health from September 2021 until his replacement in late May 2024. Born in 1980 to Ali Jan, Qalandar Ebad received his early education from Hazrat Imam Hussian and Bibi Ayesha School in Peshawar, Pakistan, before pursuing his medical education at Nangarhar University in eastern Afghanistan. Later, he obtained a graduate degree in urology from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences in Islamabad, Pakistan.
