Mawlawi Abdul Ahad Fazly was appointed Minister of Communications and Information Technology in early May 2026.
Prior to assuming this position, he served as Governor of Faryab province from late May 2024 and earlier as Governor of Samangan province, a role he held from October 2022. From June to October 2022, he briefly served as Provincial Chief of Police in Helmand province and, before that, as District Governor of Musa Qala in Helmand province.
