Mawlawi Dost Mohammad Haqqani currently serves as the Director of Financial Compliance and Legal Enforcement within the Directorate of Revenues at the Ministry of Finance. Before assuming this role, he served as the Deputy Governor of Parwan province, a position he held until February 2022. Born in 1977 to Hamesha Gul, Dost Mohammad Haqqani received his early education in his hometown of DehQol until completing the eighth grade. He then pursued religious studies in madrassas in Pakistan, initially at Darul Uloom Nomania and later at Jamia Darul Uloom Haqqania. Upon graduating in 1999, he founded Anwarul Sahabaa, a local madrassa in the Pul-e-Charkhi area of Kabul, which accommodated over 300 students. He furthered his studies in Fiqh jurisprudence at Darul Uloom Haqqania Madrassa in Pakistan under the guidance of Mufti Saifullah Haqqani, while concurrently managing affairs at Darul Uloom Hanafia madrassa. Following the U.S. engagement in 2001, Dost Mohammad Haqqani became actively involved with the Taliban, initially in the Kajaki district of Helmand province, and later in Kabul and Parwan provinces. He held various roles during his time with the Taliban, including overseeing prisoners' affairs in Bamyan and Parwan, managing logistics in Parwan, heading the central military zone, and serving as a military commander of Parwan and Kapisa provinces.
