Qari Bakhtiyar Maaz was appointed Governor of Laghman province in early September 2025. Prior to this, he served as Governor of Maidan-Wardak province from April 2023 to September 2025, and as Provincial Chief of Police in Kunduz from May 2022 to April 2023. Before that, he was the Governor of Baghlan province, to which he was appointed in November 2021.
